Hi guys!
What a difficult start to the year, we continue in the wake of the previous year, we close the second week at -2.28% while the nasdaq closes at -0.23%.
How sorry I am to have to announce another week under the banner of red, but I thank you from my heart for your trust and not closing the position in Red. Our portfolio is highly speculative, some companies are risky, others less. However, I would never invest in companies that I do not know or believe in, so I ask you for patience, sooner or later the market will recover and we will recover the heavy losses of this and last year. Patience is the key word, difficult to have it, I know and I imagine your frustration. But have faith, sooner or later the wind will turn in our favor.
Let's now move on to some macroeconomic news of the week:
Inflation data came out on Wednesday, in line with expectations, however, recording the strongest increase since June 1982, bringing inflation to 7% annually. Markets digested the news well and closed on Wednesday in green. However on Thursday we saw a strong correction which caused us to lose 3.21% and pushed us into the deep red.
Still fear for the markets over the Fed's decision to raise interest rates, at this point it is a necessary increase to control inflation. Once that happens I don't expect continued strong selling on growh stocks as they are already pricing in a strong correction.
For the rest, let's see our TOP / FLOP 3 from the second week of the year:
TOP 3
SPWR +4,02%
COCP +1,69%
PINS +1,26%
FLOP 3
CSIQ -5,14%
NIU -10,09%
SPCE -18,55%
I am surprised to see in the Flop 3 NIU and CSIQ, it does not surprise me at all SPCE which loses almost a fifth after the announcement on Thursday due to fears that convertible debt will dilute existing shareholders at the time of conversion and reduce earnings per share .
The space travel company has set its debt conversion price at $ 12.79 per share, which implies a 27% increase since the stock close on Thursday of $ 10.03.
Obviously, an exaggerated market reaction, but such a collapse is normal due to the absence of news from the company on the situation of the spacecraft and future flights. The project is interesting while the company leaves something to be desired.
They undoubtedly need liquidity to continue with their development, so either they sell more tickets or they need to ask for help from shareholders. In the short term it may be a negative sign, but in the long term we will see the rewards.
The current price is extremely excessive, so I closed a position in paypal to open a new one in SPCE. I am exposing myself a lot, it is currently the heaviest company in our portfolio but we have reduced our pmc to $ 20. There will be an ascent, I expect some new news for March-April. If all goes well, we will easily exceed $ 20. However, the market is quite irrational so anything can happen.
That's all for today, in the hope of recovering these heavy losses I wish you a good start to the week!
